ABOUT ME

Welcome to creatingmindfully.com, where consciousness and creativity meet.

This space is one where, with awareness, we embrace deliciousness, beauty, and abundance.  This is a space where I hope you feel at home, feel inspired, and feel a sense of joy.   Without being overly rigid and perfectionistic, I try to infuse my posts with a sense of connection to the earth and to something greater than ourselves.  Here you will find everything from ultra-decadent desserts made with local ingredients, to up-cycled craft ideas, to workouts intended to bring you greater strength and skill so you can spend more time in a state of flow outside in nature.  Also featured are meditations, mantras, book and music reviews, and other spiritual seeds that can be used to ground and infuse our creative spirit.  It’s all about spending more and more time in a state of flow.

Creating with love and connection to the earth and to something greater than myself.

I like to think of myself as a crafting generalist.  Versatile and skillful in a number of areas, working my way slowly towards mastery. I try to live and create with a “done is better than perfect” mindset, but I see you fellow perfectionists.  The struggle is real!  I want to express my love for the people in my life by making them beautiful, delicious, wonderful things they will use & enjoy.  All my favourite hobbies are found here – knitting, baking, cooking, sewing, crafting, and quilting.  My joy is often found spending time nature; hiking, trail running, and mountain biking especially.  I started practicing yoga in the early 1990’s and became a certified yoga teacher in 2005.  While I still have a regular asana practice, my focus these days is more towards meditation, mantra, and pranayama.  I’m a happily married mom to the sweetest little (not so little anymore!) boy, and work as an environmental scientist in my day job.  We live and play in the mountains of beautiful North Vancouver, British Columbia.
